Poor Nick Clegg. He’s been working up to this moment all week, you know, and just when he’s building up a head of morally indignant steam, that cheeky chappy Michael Martin deflates the Lib Dem leader like a wind bag. ‘I havenae got much longer here’, the speaker must be thinking., ‘so I’ll get ma kecks while a can.’.
Not once, but twice, he breaks Clegg’s momentum for no apparent reason - which rather undercuts the poor chap’s rhetoric…
