People really are not Gordon Brown’s thing are they? Look how unbelievably uncomfortable the PM is as he tries to be seen to relate to these pillars of pop culture: Simon Cowell and Nessum-Dorma-man Paul Potts.
It’s an unhappy marriage. Cowell, to be fair, hardly covers himself in glory either. It may be Gordon Brown he's going to see, but he’s still the Prime Minister after all. You don’t rock up tie-less with shirt undone almost down to your chest-high trousers, rapping impatiently at the door.
Remember – these awkward moments were the best they could find to present to us of this uncomfortable episode.
