I’d like to thank the mainstream media for all their alliterative accomplishments over the past couple of years. I had no idea what the liquidity crisis was until it was presented as a ‘credit crunch’, and I was completely bewildered by the whole issue of cash for honours until Channel 4 labelled it ‘loans for lordships’. And how on earth could I make an ecologically responsible choice when it comes to choosing a car if I didn’t have easy-to-remember epithet ‘gas guzzler’ to guide me.
